Termly Learning Focus

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 5 was so much fun in Reception.  We are explored outdoors and found out about how things grow. We read ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and worked hard to retell the story using props. We continued to use our phonic knowledge to write words and sentences. In Maths we compared numbers and amounts, and began to add, take away and share

This term we will be learning many new things: We will be exploring different jobs and how people help us, as well as learning about different cultures and festivals. We will be reading ‘The Train Ride’ and continuing to use pur phonic knowledge to write words and sentences.

In Maths, we will be exploring patterns and measure as well as securing our knowledge of our  number bonds.

Across the rest of the curriculum, we are growing our learning in:

Communication and Language

Physical Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Understanding the world

Expressive arts and Design

Responding to a variety of texts through ‘The Fantastics’ lenses

Team sports

Sports Day

Sun Safety

How other people live

Create collaboratively

In addition, we will be continuing to follow the children’s interests and learning and exploring through play.

Daily reading at home remains an important part of your child’s learning and is essential if your child is to progress across the curriculum. Reading journals must be in school every day so adults can use them to record when they read with the children.

P.E will take place on a Tuesday this term for both classes. Please note these days may change but you will be given notice.

Children are required to come to school in their PE kit on a Tuesday. This consists of a pair of trainers/plimsolls, a different white t-shirt other than their school t-shirt, dark coloured shorts/jogging bottoms and a jumper. Children with long hair will be expected to tie it up for PE due to health and safety reasons and children with earrings should ensure that they are removed on PE days.
