Termly Learning Focus

Dear Parents and Carers,

This term we have really enjoyed learning about toys of the past, we saw lots of wonderful old toys at Wellingborough Museum. We have enjoyed reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, ‘How to make a Mug Cake’ and ‘Perfectly Norman’ and we have done some wonderful writing!  In Maths we have been learning about adding numbers to make 5 and 10 and we have been comparing numbers using more and less.

Next term we will be learning all about people who help us, exploring the different jobs that people do. We will be reading ‘Ruby’s Worry’ and exploring poetry. In maths we will be exploring patterns and measure. We will also be talking about changes, and getting ready for year 1.

Across the rest of the curriculum, we are growing our learning in:

Physical Development

Communication and language

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Understanding the World

Expressive arts and design

Correct letter size

Dance

Talking about books we’ve read

Asking questions

Moving on

Transitions

Talk about members of the community.

Stories with morals

Choose or mix colours for a purpose.

Print a repeating pattern.

Show different emotions in drawings

Water Bottles: after half term we would like your child’s water bottle to only contain water (no juice). We are having a few problems with children bringing juice so to make it fair and safe for everyone, can you please ensure your child’s bottle contains water only. Thank you.

How can you help with your child’s learning in school and at home?

Talk to your child about what they can expect going into year 1. Listen to any worries or concerns they might have and feel free to pass these on to the team.
