Termly Learning Focus

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Croyland! We are so excited to get to know your child and for them to start their learning journey at Croyland.

This year we will be taking part in statutory baseline assessments.  We will send home a leaflet explaining the process in due course.

This term we will be settling the children into their new routines and getting to know them. We will be starting phonics lessons, introducing your child to the set 1 sounds, and sharing the stories ‘Rainbow Fish’ and ‘On Sudden Hill’.

In maths we are beginning to sort, match and compare objects.

Across the rest of the curriculum, we are growing our learning in:

Communication and Language

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

Exploring the outdoor equipment

Getting to know our new friends

Speaking and listening in a group

Talking about our family

Exploring our creative area

How can you help your child at home? We will be sending home a book for your child to practice letter formation. Please complete this with your child and return each Thursday.

Daily reading at home is an important part of your child’s learning and is essential if your child is to progress across the curriculum. To begin with, your child will receive a picture book. Please share this with them, you child can tell the story using the pictures. As your children progress with their sounds, the books will be given out accordingly.  Your child will receive a reading journal which must be in school every day so adults can use them to record when they read with the children.

We will be starting PE after the October half term, look out for details on PE kits closer to the time.
