Termly Learning Focus

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are very pleased to welcome you back for this new school year in Year 5. We have lots of exciting and interesting things planned for the year, and we hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are.

We will begin our English learning with a story called ‘Gorilla’, which is an adventure story, by the author Anthony Browne, and then move onto a non-fiction text by writing a biography of David Attenborough. In Maths, we will begin looking Place Value and then Addition and Subtraction. We will be developing our confidence with our number range, and develop our speed and accuracy with our calculation methods.

Across the rest of the curriculum, we are growing our learning in:

Humanities

Art/Design Technology

Computing

Music

PE

Living Things and their Habitats

History:

DT:

Sharing Information

Indoor:

Outdoor:

How can you help with your child’s learning in school and at home?

This term we would like you to help the children to find out about Ancient Egypt by creating a factfile or poster about a famous Egyptian person or place.
