RE at Croyland

Hello and welcome to the RE syllabus 2018

At Croyland we recognise our local and national diversity within the modern world. In order to reflect our multi-faith society – including those with no faith, the new revised RE Curriculum draws upon an enquiry base approach, leading into a creative response to

`Big Questions` which challenge the pupils. For example these include:

*Use of experimental and creative activities, to enable pupils to develop their insight into the `experience’ of religion

* Use of reasoned arguments and debates where pupils can explore controversial issues

* Use investigative and interpretative skills

* Using planned, sequenced enquiries, to ensure pupils build effectively on prior learning

Children reflect the benefit from these approaches, through ensuring a deeper understanding, increased confidence and more sustained learning from today’s world beliefs.

The syllabus focuses upon two Attainment Targets

AT1 – Learning about religion and belief (Enquiring, investigating and understanding beliefs)

AT2 – Learning from religion and belief (Questioning, exploring, reflecting upon and interpreting human experience in light of the religions/beliefs studied.)

Teaching of faiths focus

KS1 – Christianity and two other faiths – starting with family, neighbourhood and special times, whilst concentrating on the similarities of religions are creatively planned and delivered.

KS2 – Christianity and five other world religions, including Humanism- involve moving from the local to the national and international examples of religion.   Its key focus is to ensure pupils explore diversity, similarities, differences within and between religions, humanism and other world views.

Children’s work can be found throughout the school. Enjoy our creative and sometimes challenging g responses to the Big Questions of today!
